Breakfast with Santa hosted by YIP
Andrea Landis

Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) is hosting “Breakfast with Santa” on Saturday, December 10th in the Warrior Run Middle School! We will have two serving times, 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM. Each serving time will be limited seating with a 100 seat capacity.

The cost is $10 per ticket and will be collected on the day of the event. We will be able to accept cash or check (payable to WRCEF). You will be provided a sit down breakfast of pancakes, sausage and fruit along with selected beverages served by Santa’s reindeer and elves (a.k.a. WRHS students)! Santa will also be present!

Reserving your seats for this event has closed.

The proceeds from this event will contribute to the funds that the Youth in Philanthropy students will disperse in the spring to local non-profit organizations following our grant application process.

What is Youth in Philanthropy?

There are two components of the program. The first is philanthropy and grant making. The second focus is understanding volunteerism and community service. In addition to awarding grants, students learn what a community foundation is and the importance of nonprofit organizations in the community. Throughout the year, students assess youth needs, gain knowledge of local nonprofits, award grants, practice general meeting skills and take steps to become a philanthropist.

Recently, YIP students conducted a needs assessment for our community. Through this assessment, the group held three separate focus group discussions to learn the youth needs in our community and what the YIP group could do in order to make the school district and community a better place to belong in. Based on the information learned in the focus groups, the students will identify three needs of our community.

The students will work with the Community Giving Foundation to write an application focused on our communities youth needs. This application will be used to allow nonprofits to apply for funding to meet the needs of our youth in our community. In the Spring, YIP students will award monies to nonprofits based on their impact to our youth.
